Spring Training

Post#1 » by ohara » Sun Mar 4, 2012 1:49 pm

Well, we all had our opinions on the off season and whether Wren was correct or not on how he played it out. Now, we get to see how the team looks in Spring Training. See if we can work out the kinks, stay healthy, and start to get some momentum heading into the regular season.

Game 1. We got 1 hit by Detroit. Ouch. Not very inspiring.

Well, scored 3 runs today. Bad news is Detroit scored 18. Delgado got shelled for 4 ER and Teheran for 7 ER.

Tommy Hanson likely to make spring debut Sun.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez confirmed that Tommy Hanson will likely make his spring debut Sunday against the Blue Jays.
He is expected to follow Kris Medlen, who will start the game. Hanson threw live batting practice Sunday and Tuesday and is expected to do so again Thursday. The 25-year-old right-hander suffered a mild (Grade 1) concussion in a one-car accident early on in Braves' camp, but he has passed all tests and appears to be back on track in his preparation for the new season.

It would be Delgado/Teheran on Friday normally but it's split squad so not sure if they're going to start one at home and the other away or keep them together. I'd imagine that they'd split them up, so you should see at least one of them on Friday. Jurrjens is pitching on Saturday.

I am looking forward to seeing what Cespedes does this spring.

Yoenis Cespedes could make his Athletics' debut as soon as this weekend.
Cespedes arrived in A's camp last weekend, but the team wanted him to get a few workouts in before playing in live games. The 26-year-old outfielder is scheduled to get six at-bats Wednesday in a simulated game. Oakland general manager Billy Beane has hedged a bit about Cespedes' chances of making the Opening Day roster, but he's a pretty good bet to break camp with the big club given how much money he's being paid.

Awesome, so I may see Jurrjens and Hanson on sat and sun, and some young arms on fri. Thanks.

Good news: JJ is pain free.

It'd be nice to see him stay healthy for the duration of the season. He was putting up great numbers before pitching started to become painful.

I was listening to AM Sports Talk (680 the fan) today and a great deal of Braves fans are concerned about the offense (not shocking). The radio hosts seem to be positive.

I'm glad someone is positive. Was the radio host Frank Wren by chance?

No..lol

One caller thinks the Braves are going to win the division, followed by Philly, and Washington. The radio host jokingly said you must be drunk if you think the Braves are going to win over Philly and if Washington is going to win over Miami. There went the positivity.
