He's a solid, dependable, cheap back-up catcher. Nothing terrific, think he'll fall more into that Eddie Perez/Henry Blanco level of back-up than in the David Ross camp, but that's alright.

It's a 2-year deal, no financial terms available, however I'm guessing that it's less than half of what David Ross got from the Red Sox.

I'm still going to miss Ross. He was so dependable at the plate and he always seemed to hit a HR when I would watch him play.

I just hope Gerald Laird will be dependable for us considering it's a two year deal.
