Move had to be made. And if Gilmartin had another bad year, his value would have sunk lower. OK move.

Not a fan of trading one of your top trade chips for a utility player. We have moved 3 blue chip arms and the only one of those guys that we really got something worth speaking of for was Delgado.

Feels like we lost a bit of ground to our Division foes this off season. Maybe not a lot, but some. We sure did not strengthen our position. Wren does what he can with his hands tied. I do not blame him. We will be solid, and I feel confident about making the post season. But I do not see us being a strong contender unless our young pitching which is good can make a step forward up to elite. Maybe they're ready to make that move and mgmnt feels confident in that happening. I sure would love to see it.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (on Twitter) hears that there was never any interest between the Braves and Bronson Arroyo. Earlier today, Arroyo told ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick that, contrary to rumors, he never got a one-year offer from the Reds and denied ever coming close to an agreement with the Twins.

Braves avoid arbitration with Schafer, Minor, Medlen and Chris Johnson. That leaves 3 arby players left in Kimbrel, Freeman and Heyward.

Finally some news, now let's just re-sign the remaining 3 and get ready for a great season!

I hate this so much. Eric is one of the league's most reliable bullpen guys.

We needed to keep him. This off season is turning out to be rather crappy.

It makes very little since to me as to why we let him go at that price.
Even if he's not going to be able to pitch until mid season, he can be an anchor, and I'm happy that the only other team that I support signed him.

Our front office has dropped the ball this off-season.

So looks like the Braves only offered EOF a 1 yr deal, The Braves only offered Eric O'Flaherty a one-year contract to remain with the team, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

This off-season has been pretty laughable, I've disagreed with most of it.

Agreed, hate the way we treat our players. Always selling them short then putting pressure on them to step up and do things they may not be capable of. Seems like a Hawks and Braves thing.

Heyward, Braves avoid arby hearing. Agree on 2 yr $13.3 mill deal,

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/atl/atl ... y=news_atl

The Braves and Freeman have also avoided arby hearing, agreeing to a multi yr deal. Terms have not been released yet.

Kimbrel's hearing is scheduled for Feb 17.

Absolutely love this if true. Freddie's only 24 years old and an average salary of $15.6 mil for an MVP candidate in Baseball (a player who hasn't even entered his prime yet) is wonderful. I have no doubt in my mind that the Yankees, Dodgers, or Red Sox would've shoveled out over $200 mil for Freddie when he hit free agency.

Also the deal for Jason Heyward is also a good one for us. $13.5 over two years is very reasonable and J-Hey will also be in line for a major extension after those years are up, good set up by Wren knowing that Uggla's big contract will also expire in two years.

I just hope we can keep Kimbrel. I know he's going to cost a lot, but rare to have a closer like that. Hell if he was our closer in the 90s, we'd have more than 1 championship in that decade.

Locking up Freeman is HUGE, I also like the J Hey deal.
