we are literally trying to be the 76ers of baseball.

what a terrible trade. an old SS on a 1 year deal, 1 good and 1 mediocre prospect for the best defender in baseball.

smh

This sucks, I'm tired of trading our best players. I'm done with Hart and Cappy. No way I trade Simmons or Kimbrel. :banghead:

the pitchers we got aren't even much, if at all better than the guys we already have.

if we traded Andy because his offense wasn't good enough, wouldn't it make sense to trade him for offensive players instead of something we already have plenty of?

wouldn't be surprised if Freddie is next :(

I completely love the trade. Smart of C0ppy to move Simmons at peak value for a potential Ace.

No use having a top defensive SS in his prime if the team is nowhere near contention today.

We are stacked in the minors at pitcher with assets to move over the next 18 months:

Since the trade I have picked the brain of many of my friends.
Many are not pleased at all, but it could be due to not being knowledgeable about our return, and the fact that we continue to trade our talented players away.
So, I now sit here, and am researching at 1am. I hope to come to a conclusion so I can be content with what has taken place today.
How often do we hear about rumors from our ball club and nothing seems to occur???

Sean Newcomb seems to be the better prospects over Chris Ellis.
Both seem to walk batters to much, Ellis more so, but we shall see how they progress within our system.
It appears the headlines that we acquired LA's two best prospects are kind of hyped because both are far from being sure talents. I intend on staying as positive as possible, but Turner Field is going to quickly turn into a ghost town next season at this rate, so maybe there will be something exciting occurs during the rest of the off-season. We need plenty of those kind of moments as the off-season progresses to save the upcoming season.

Yeah, and numerous outlets indicate Newcomb immediately becomes our new #1 prospect in the organization.

Considering Simba was so disappointing offensively, getting a potential top flight stud pitcher for him is a stroke of genius.

I don't love jettisoning players we root for and who are consistent producers, but this is the price of striking out in Free Agency so much.

We have a clear direction and enough assets to engage in trade talks at any time with anyone.

In modern sports, the worse place you can be is stuck in the middle.

its on the WT

http://baseball.realgm.com/wiretap/44097/Sources-Braves-Are-Shopping-Freddie-Freeman

if we do trade him, we better get a haul and a half. our 2016 offense will probably be the worst all-time.

Nick, Cameron and Teheran also possibly on the block.

“I cannot make it any more clear: We are not trading Freddie Freeman," Coppolella said. "We are not. I’d give my right arm before we trade Freddie Freeman. It is not happening."

Tanking is clearly occurring.
I support trading Freddie Freeman considering the rest of the trades we've made.

It certainly seems that way. Though, I'd be pretty upset based on what we just gave up to acquire 30 year old Hector Olivera.

Basically, it all comes down to Coppy's ability (willingness?) to move more of this young pitching for capable hitters.

His insistence on getting back big league hitters for Shelby Miller is encouraging.

In the meanwhile, he should probably avoid any more interviews with national media...they aren't nearly as kind as the local guys.
