MLB is expected to announce it's decision on punishment for the Braves, this week. It is confirmed that they will lose Kevin Maitan and other prospects for the 2016 International signing class. So far, Maitan is the only name revealed.

2 more prospects that the Braves will lose have been named,

SS Livan Soto and P Yefri del Rosario. It is expected the Braves will lose up to 4 more prospects. Around 10 total.

Add Korean shortstop Jihwan Bae to the list of prospects the Braves will lose.

Wow, losing all those prospects... what a nightmare - worse than I think any of us expected.

Well I don't know anything on these prospects potential, other than Maitan, Gutierrez and Hwan Bae. Losing those 3 alone hurts big time.

MLB brought down the hammer on us for doing something that every team does. They may have just crippled us in the future.

On the bright side... I think all of the prospects were teenagers, and none were going to impact Atlanta for several years. The Braves farm system took a major blow, but it's fine. But it's a black eye for a franchise that needs to show improvement.

We all know Maitan will be a hall of famer for sure now! The Braves should sue MLB!

We definitely have to have a position player heavy draft now! I guess Coppy did buy Drew Waters a car to sign for cheaper, we lost our third round pick. I hope AA had an idea of how severe the penalties on the way would be, he has his hands full and inherited a mess for sure!

Very interesting wrinkle to all of this from Ben Badler's story on BA. Any of the players the Braves lost can choose to re-sign with the Braves, but they must wait until May 1 to do so and cannot receive an additional bonus. Beginning December 5 they can sign with any team for an additional bonus until January 15. After that they can re-sign with any team but receive no additional bonus. Most teams' pools are already accounted for this signing period so there is at least a small chance a player might hold out until May 1 to return to the organization and coaches they know. I doubt any of the bigger names would do that, but there's a chance a couple of the lesser players might.

Maitan is a huge loss though.

No question. As is Ji Hwan Bae.

Or maybe there is a question as to whether or not the prospects are that big a loss. From fangraphs: https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-braves-punishment-is-in-and-its-harsh/
