Braves grappling with internal 'Power Struggle'?

Questions arise for disappointing Braves amidst organizational changes
The changes, in the view of some Braves’ officials, amount to nothing more than a minor restructuring of the front office. Different roles for some. Different titles but the same roles for others. Promotions in some cases, too.
Others within the organization perceive the moves as the first step in a larger battle for the soul of the franchise, a highly sensitive dance between the Braves’ glorious past and promising future.
“It’s a power struggle over who is running the club,” one team official said. “Is John Schuerholz running the club or are John Hart and John Coppolella running it?”
Hart, the team's president of baseball operations, and Coppolella, the general manager, vehemently dispute that view, sources say. Schuerholz, the vice chairman who recently was inducted into the Hall of Fame, hired both executives, speaks with them regularly and participates in meetings.

Palace intrigue with the hometown team?
Or just rumor mongering and over dramatization of normal organizational re-staffing?
Liberty Media can't be pleased, either way...

Idk what's going on, but Hart and Coppy should be running the team. That's who I've been under the impression has.

I thought that all this time, too.
There always seems to be drama within the front office and our players are most likely taking note of it.

Idk about always, but maybe recently. I was under the impression that John S was still with the club, but kind of retired. Especially now that he is in the HOF. Hart and Coppy should be running the team. Also we need new owners and ones that care. Liberty Media doesn't give a rats arse about the team it owns.

Talking Chop wrote:In a broader sense, it does appear as though the Braves are doing a fair bit of reorganization internally. In addition to the moves that the Braves’ made as reported in Rosenthal’s piece, it is hard to make sense of exactly who is going to be responsible for what or if these moves portend any personnel leaving the organization. What remains true is that until this all shakes out, there is still a little bit of palace intrigue about the Braves’ front office that still appears to be shaking out.

So reports of internal turmoil turned out to have some truth behind them after all.

Dave O'Brien breaks it down:
there was the troubling matter of Coppolella’s deteriorating relationship with other Braves officials, specifically those below him. When a couple of them were reassigned late in the season and replaced by two hires from outside the organization for assistant GM and farm director positions, it only served to raise the tension and downright fear among some employees. They said Coppolella was “weeding out” dissenting voices, sending clear signal to the others of what would happen if they didn’t fall in line.
It effectively ended such dissent and further chilled an already frosty work environment among Braves employees torn between their loyalty to the organization and desire to remain employed, and their active and ever-increasing dislike of Coppolella.
AJCSuch a shame. I really liked Coppy's moves. But this is a clear abuse of power and failure of leadership. The scandal with international scouting only makes it worse.

I'll say this as straightforward as I can -- the buck stops with Alex Anthopoulos... PERIOD! It starts and ends with the new GM, that's what we need. Anthopoulos is the main decision maker and what he decides needs to be final. Not John Schuerholz, not Bobby Cox, not anybody else, just Alex Anthopoulos.
