We moved up five spots to #4 in the latest MLB.com Power Rankings. There are only two NL teams (Milwaukee) in the Top 5.

I had planned on going to bed early about 11 but the rain delay and then extra innings kept me up until nearly 1 am, well worth the wait though! We were (1-7) in extra innings, I knew the worm had to turn eventually and the Reds had won seven games in a row. It was a great ballgame!

Lead is opening up in the NL East race. Nats aren't looking like the threat I thought they were, I figured they'd take back division control for sure by now. We need another arm in the bullpen to really make our mark though.

Can't count on the Nats lack of scoring to continue - with that lineup. 3 straight Scherzer starts they've gotten shut out - that's crazy. What worries me most about the Nats - their bullpen is so deep - if they're ahead after 5, they'll win.

I'm not overlooking the Nats at all. I'm just not scared of them the way I was when we were rolling in April. All along I've been looking at WC standings for us, but now, if we get some bullpen help, I'm seeing this division up for grabs.

Braves place Soroka on 60 day DL today.

I think we should scoop up deGrom before the Brewers, Yankees do.

S Freeman blows it in the 7th, allowing 3 runs. 6-3 Reds in the 8th. :banghead:

Like I said the other week against the Padres, why is he still on the team?!?

We never play well in St. Louis, this 10 game road trip is scary but at least (hopefully) Acuna is back this weekend and we tend to play better against winning teams for whatever reason! I still can't believe we lost and the Reds' crazy maniac 1B best player got thrown out in the first inning!

Reds win 6-5.

AA needs to get rid of these scrubs in the bullpen and get us a bullpen arm or two, and or put one of the young kids in the pen. Gohara/Allard

I vote to DFA Sam Freeman and call up Phillips that'd leave us with two lefties in the pen and doesn't Biddle have reverse splits? I don't even care if it's not a setup situation yet then I'd have Biddle or Hell even Phillips, Carle or any other right handers try to get the lefty out than see Freeman **** the bed again! I realize all the relievers are walking too many batters but Freeman has had every chance and he sucks! We are scoring plenty of runs and have to go for it, depending on price of course. I'd like to at least see a lefty reliever added before the deadline but getting a lefty and righty to bridge the gap to Viz would be amazing. Hopefully AA can pull something off!

Our bullpen has cost us a chance to be at least 5 games up in the division.

In all the bullpen chaos yesterday I forgot about this. Now we need a starter and two bullpen arms. McCarthy gives us a chance to win but if his starts are going to be mostly 5 and fly then that only taxes the pen even more (is that even possible at this point?). I doubt we'll get deGrom but with the Mets' baseball operations guy stepping down because of illness, prayers for him by the way it leaves the door to the possibility open. If we don't plan on moving the kind of prospects to get a TOR starter then at least give Gohara a chance over McCarthy and then if he fails bring up Allard maybe? I just don't have any answers right now, they probably want Allard down on the farm until September at the earliest would be my guess.

Who knows if we will or not, but we definitely should IMO. We need a vet who still has some youth. We could have went and got Chris Sale 2 years ago if we really wanted to, we had(and still have) the assets to do so. This past offseason we could have went and got Gerrit Cole if we wanted, again having the assets to do so.
I don't see McCarthy on this team next season and I really hope Teheran isn't. It's time for the Braves and Teheran to go their separate ways.

So why not go get deGrom? Yankees and Brewers will be after him.

Going into next season if Teheran and McCarthy don't return,

deGrom
Newcomb
Folty
Allard/Gohara
Soroka

Return to Atlanta Braves
