Let's talk about next year's rotation and how you think or would like it to look. Folty, Gausman and Newcomb are locks for 2019.
Personally I would like to bring back Anibal Sanchez on a one year deal. Obviously it will be for more than the $1 million he made this season. He'll be 35 in April, we'll see if he wants to come back for a 13th season. He had a really good year for us, he wants to win and knows what kind of team we have and can go back to playoffs.
My rotation for 2019 would be,
Folty
Newcomb
Gausman
Sanchez
Gohara/Allard/Fried
I'm going with a 2nd lefty over Soroka, Touki and Wilson. I think all three will start the season in AAA. All three started last season in AA, working their way up to AAA and MLB. With Soroka coming off that shoulder injury, I don't want to rush him back. We have tons of pitching and there is no need to. I'm sure we will see all three in Atlanta at some point next season, just like we did in 2018.
For second lefty in my rotation, I'd like to see Gohara, Allard and Fried battle it out in spring training for that 5th spot.

Looks like Max Fried might get another shot at the Braves rotation. He pitched 5 shutout innings today with 7 K's. He's a talented lefty that the organization has had high hopes for a bunch of years. Sure would be nice to see him make the most of this opportunity.
At some point, you're no longer a prospect, and ya gotta produce. Max, it's time.

Teheran
Newcomb
Fried
Touki
Wright
This is what our rotation looks like with Folty and Gausman injured. Yeah we don't need a Keuchel or Gio or Kluber.

The early season will indicate if things are good or not. I wanted more depth but I do like what we have.Nemesis21 wrote:Teheran

We all like what we have, but counting on so many unexperienced young arms, could go really bad. Touki, Fried, Soroka and Wilson are they ones who got MLB time last year, and none of them more than 35 innings.
I sound like a broken record, but Liberty Media and McGuirk have set us up to take a few steps back from last season, instead of improving on an NLDS appearance.

ESPNBraves to have two rookie starters in rotation
Right-handers Bryse Wilson, 21, and Kyle Wright, 23, will follow Julio Teheran in the rotation for the opening series against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, the team announced.
Wilson and Wright, ranked as the 51st and 22nd overall prospects in baseball by ESPN's Keith Law, are scheduled to pitch Saturday and Sunday at Citizen's Bank Park. Wilson has a 3.29 ERA in five appearances this spring while Wright has a 7.11 ERA in five appearances. Wright, however, has struck out 18 batters in 12 2/3 innings pitched.
The Atlanta Braves optioned right-handed pitching prospect Touki Toussaint to Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday. The 22-year-old Toussaint, ranked 26th among overall prospects by Law, was thought to have a shot to make the Braves' starting rotation this season but struggled this spring. He was 1-2 with an 8.62 ERA in six appearances. He struck out 20 batters in 15 2/3 innings but also allowed 18 hits.

Did not know Kyle Wright was already 23. Well, he was touted as the best player in his draft class, let's see if he can show us something in his first opportunity, or if he'll flop like Allard has so far.

Yeah I believe he was a junior at Vanderbilt when we drafted him.

It's sad that Allard lost his fastball - and at an age where most prospects are gaining MPH's. Before that, I thought he was the best of our pitching prospects. i agree with you on Wright - time to see what we got there.
