We feel one win shy of the World Series, and the Braves are officially in off-season mode.

The 3 biggest keys to the Braves off-season are,

1) Adding a starting pitcher - With Soroka coming off a torn Achilles injury and possibly missing the first 1-2 months of the season, AA needs to find a pitcher to go with Fried, Anderson, Wright/Wilson.

2) To re-sign Marcell Ozuna or not - Two factors in play here, the status of the DH in the NL, and cost. Reminder the Braves didn't give big bucks to Donaldson.

3) Freddie Freeman extension - Pretty sure this gets done.

I'm a bad loser - still need probably a week more to sulk before I get into the offseason. But the future for the Braves is definitely bright.

You're not the only one.
I have been trying to enjoy the World Series but it has been difficult.

Honestly, I haven't watched any of it. If it goes 7 games, I might watch some of the 7th game, but that's it.

The Luis Aparicio award, which since 2004 has been annually given to the best-performing Venezuelan player over the course of the current season.

This year, the winner is Ronald Acuna Jr., who now joins an elite club of players who have been named as multi-year recipients of the award.

Miguel Cabrera (5 times)

Jose Altuve (3 times)

Johan Santana (twice)

Ronald Acuna Jr. (twice)

:dontknow:

Sorry to see him go, but it was probably the fiscally smart move. He did a great job, but his sidearm fastball has lost a couple MPH's. In a longer schedule, the Braves probably figure NL teams catch up to him. Seems like a great guy though, and I'm sure he'll find another job easily. Braves save $3 mil.

Hopefully that 3 mill helps to bring back Melancon and Greene!

MLB Trade Rumors predicts the landing spots for the top 50 Free Agents,

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/11/mlb-free-agent-predictions-2021.html

They have Michael Brantley signing a two year deal with the Braves, Lester and Melancon signing one year deals with the Braves.

My pipe dream is Bauer(they predict him to the Dodgers), but in the end he'll be out of the Braves price range. Personally I'd like to see the Braves reunite with Adam Wainwright(they have him returning to STL 1yr/$6 mill), he still has a home in Georgia, and what a more fitting way to go, then to reunite with your home town team that drafted you and win a World Series with them?!! I'd go one year $10-12 mill range.

Also I'd like to go the cheaper route than Brantley(especially with Waters in the wings). As much as he was a pain in our necks the last two times we played him team in the playoffs, Joc Pederson is the perfect LH platoon with Duvall in LF. Pederson can also play 1b, to help rest Freeman.

I'd like the Braves to re-sign one of Melancon/Greene.

Beaur would be fantastic.

Red extended an $18.9 million qualifying offer to RHP Trevor Bauer.

The only way Bauer wasn't going to get the qualifying offer was if the Reds were able to work out an extension with Bauer. That wasn't going to happen, either, so Cincinnati has offered their ace compensation that will earn them a draft pick if he signs elsewhere. The 29-year-old was outstanding in 2020 with a 100/17 K/BB ratio in 73 innings and a 1.73 ERA in his 11 starts. He likely will take home the Cy Young this year, and shortly after -- or possibly before -- a significant payday.

Max Fried is the Braves only GG winner. Baez got the GG over Swanson and Trent Grisham got the GG over Acuna.

Trevor Bauer has rejected the one-year, $18.9 million qualifying offer from the Reds.

This comes directly from Bauer's agent, Rachel Luba, who tweeted the news from her personal Twitter account on Wednesday. It was probably an easy decision for Bauer, as he's in line to score one of the richest contracts on the open market this winter after delivering a 1.73 ERA and 100/17 K/BB ratio over 11 starts (73 innings) during MLB's condensed 2020 campaign. Cincinnati will get draft pick compensation if he signs elsewhere.

Starting Nine: Hitting free-agent market to fill Braves’ biggest needs

If current options move on, where could Atlanta turn for a middle-of-the-order bat, starting pitcher and catcher?
