Are we going to resign Andruw?

With the money he'll command in the free agent market and our new ownership, do you think we'll be able to resign him?

It seems that he wants to stay, and how do you not keep him around?

Thoughts?

I asked this in another thread.... My thoughts??? Hmmmmm, I think we'll let him walk. If we're having a HORRIBLE year come trade deadline and we don't plan on resigning him, we'll trade him. If we're having a good year and we make a nice run in the playoffs, theres a chance we will resign him, but overall, I think we'll let him walk. He'll get a lot more than he's making right now on a team with a HIGH payroll. I'd REALLY like to keep him though. ATL could probably get by offering him around 17-18 and get him back. But will JS do that? That remains to be seen. But remember, Vernon Wells signed a 126mil/7 yr contract. Andruw is better than Wells. 126/7 comes out to be 18 per year. Soriano also signed a 130/8 yr deal. Which comes out to 16.25 mil a year. Andruw is better than that too. So we'll see.

Oh I think he'll command 140/7 in free agency.

Isnt his agent Scott Boras?

If so, as much as id love him back, he will demand huge money...more than we can afford.

It will be tough to resign because he will command Alfonso Soriano money at the very least. However, if the Braves can find this kind of cap space, they should resign him because Andruw Jones is just reaching his career peak.

I'm so sick of these cheap owners we continue to get. Ever since Ted Turner left, we cut payroll every year.

I really want to keep Andruw, he's the face of the franchise IMO and is still probably the best defensive Center fielder in the game.

If we really can't resign him, we need to get some kind of value for him, unless of course we are making a huge playoff run. Letting him go for nothing just doesn't cut it.

Andruw will most likely accept less money to stay with Atlanta, but I'm not expecting a major discount, and Scott was pretty upset the last time Andruw accepted less money to stay with Atlanta.

I know many people that are going to be very disappointed if Andruw goes, but we can't be spoiled by his defense, so we need to resign him, and I'm not fully trusting this new ownership to throw out the big bucks to keep him around.

Time will tell.

his discount will probably be 140 mil, hes defiantly going to get paid this offseason.

I think he'll want to stay, and maybe ownership can offer him close to what he wants to earn in free agency.

Sadly I think we loose him. I have heard he is looking for something in the 17 a year average. 17 a year!!!!!! That is two good players worth. He has been great for us but at this point, that is WAY TOO much.

Well if we hope to resign Andruw I'd say he's as good as gone.

I can't imagine the Braves without him right now. We've become so accustomed to his awesome catches that probably save us 20+ runs a year.

Definately, and its not like he's old or anything, might as well pay the man.

He's got at least ten years of solid baseball left barring major injuries.

This is why baseball needs a salary cap. Everyone doesn't have Steinbrenner. I'm so sick of seeing the Yankees sign HUGE contracts EVERY year. I'd be SO pissed if he went to the Yankees.

However, I wouldn't complain if we still had Turner.
