I know, I know, its still very early in the season.

However, through 5 games they are a combined 7-37 to start the year (.189 AVG), with no HR, and only 1 RBI.

Cause for concern?

No reason to even allow this to bother you. They are two of the best at what they do and they will come around.

Oh no doubt, I know they will too. I just always want them to do well and to see them struggling out the gate is tough. But hey, we're 4-1, so i guess its a good sign that even though they arent driving in runs we are winning.

I'm more concerned with Thorman not starting at first, and I don't think Platooning left fielders is going to work out long term.

It's awesome to see this happening. We wouldn't have won any of these kinds of games the past few years. Pitching has always been the key to this teams success..

All Druw needs is one homer and he'll believe that he can hit one every single at bat..

Chipper is just a solid hitter, I think he's still gettin over that little injury he had, I expect him to pick it up this coming series.

A. Jones is heating up. A lot of great hitters struggling early.

Good run production, but at some point we're going to need them to get on base more frequently.

The averages will continue to go up as will the run production. The key IMO to our lineup is Franceour. McCann is giving AJ good protection in the 5 hole but Franceour needs to give some protection to Mac. Judging from the current homestand Wilson will not give up much contribution against lefties, I'd much rather see Thorman in there against lefties than that guy. As far as Langs and Diaz splitting time I like it.

Well Chip's RBI production would be much better if we had a decent lead-off guy.. As much as I hate to say it, I kinda miss Giles.

I hate to admit it also but I'm also missing Marcus. He's having a good season so far and we could really use some lead off help. I hope we fix this problem before we get to deep into the season.

Giles was atrocious in the leadoff spot last year.

The production you're really missing is Furcal. You guys don't have that prototypical leadoff speed guy to set the table and create havoc. Johnson isn't going to cut it. Woodward won't cut it either (he didn't with us, anyway). He's just a decent utility type who can spell Larry/Renteria every so often. In fact, if Renteria doesn't produce like last year and reverts back to Boston days, the Jones' won't have much to drive in.

Its unfortunate, because if we had a more than serviceable leadoff guy, our lineup would be DANGEROUS.

As much as I agree that Johnson isn't your prototypical leadoff hitter he is still getting on base via walks which is second to chipper. So lets not start killing kelly cuz he's not exactly ripping the league. JS knew that we needed a leadoff hitter or a power hitting LF and got neither, instead he chose Wilson and bullpen help which I don't disagree since our bullpen was a horrible last season. Hopefully come trade deadline he will go out and make a move for a leadoff hitter that can steal bases. 12 games into the season and we have 3 SB's as a team will not cut it. Buts let not forget that before Furcal arrived we really didn't have a SB threat at the top of the lineup.

I kinda wished we would have kept Pena, Jr instead of Johnson better bat and glove. Giles should have been kept around but I wonder if the saving of money is for resigning Andruw, sure hope so as all of us do.

Braves where the first team I saw when a child and figured might as well root for them. Been a Braves fan for 16 yrs now.
