These pre-game posts are great. Keep it up AK. Let's bring out the brooms tonight, the big dog is on the hill. Come on Smoltz!

Smoltz is only going to give up 4 hits.
Calling it now.

Four hits? Wow, you must not think much of Smoltz. I'm calling two. But just as long as we get the W, it's all good.
I hate that we had to waste our big three on the Nats.

My point is we could've swept them with Davies, Redman and an injured Hampton.

I actually agree with this, really no reason to put Smoltz out there, especially so soon after his last start.. as lame as it sounds, it's true, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

we're still 7-2, but for some reason this loss really hurts.

I'm surprised we're 7-2 when we've got starters like Johnson, Thorman, and Langerhans with sub-.200 batting averages.
Especially Johnson. He's our friggin' lead-off hitter and he rarely gets on base.

I can't believe we couldn't back up a great performance by Smoltz with TWO runs..

Well, Smolty probably should have been pulled in the 8th, but they let him go, couple of wild pitches and a clutch hit and yeah Smoltzy was done.
We had the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th but Thorman struck out on check swing.. pretty horrible stuff.

There was no reason to keep Smoltz in that long. I'd trust our bullpen against the Nats bullpen any day. You could tell Smoltz was spent from the first batter.

Wow...the Nationals

Good luck with the Fish - it should be a fun series (from an outsider's point of view anyway

)

We've got to win games like that for Smoltz.
