Pena and Redman were both sent to the DL. Not sure how serious McCann's injury is. At least we'll finally see Salty in the big leagues.

Hello, Jarrod Saltalamacchia. Goodbye, Mark Redman, at least for a little while.

Saltalamacchia, the organization's top minor league prospect, was activated today from Class AA Mississippi and will start tonight at catcher and bat seventh in the Braves' lineup against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Backup catcher Brayan Pena was placed on the 15-day disabled list with concussion symptoms after being hit in the head by a bat in Tuesday night's game.

Redman, the lefthander whose ERA rose to 10.62 after Tuesday's poor outing, will have surgery on his left big toe. Kevin Barry was recalled from Class AAA Richmond to fill Redman's roster spot. No decision has been made yet on who will take Redman's place in the rotation.

I hope he does well, actually I pray that he does well, so his trade value stays or goes up. I love these times due to the families being at the park and how excited they are.

I only got to see the last at bat when he got hit,but he did hit a nice line drive foul, any chance either he or McCann switch positions to keep both,or do you guys see you trading one of them?

I see a trade happening if not soon in the near future. I saw the last 3 ab's, good compact stroke, good plate discipline. Reminded me a little of McCann cool, calm and collective. Futrue looks good for this kid. Any idea if he's staying up or is McCann gonna sit for the weekend series as a backup just in case.

They were saying McCann should be back Friday.

I'm telling you, move Thorman to left and let Salty play first.

McCann, Salty and Throman all in the lineup? Drool.

Wouldn't mind it but I actually like what Harris brings to the team at the bottom of the lineup with his speed and he's not that bad defensively. How good is thorman defensively in the OF?

With McCann starting on Friday, is Salty staying up or going back down to get to play rather than sit on the bench as a backup?

With Pena on the DL, odds are Salty stays up until Pena gets back.

I think the Braves are using this as a chance to give Salty a taste of the big leagues with a message that when he gets send back down to AAA and learns 1B he can come back for good. My guess is that he stays up until Pena is activated because the Braves could have called Miller up instead had they wanted to keep Salty in the minors.

Or could they be showcasing him? Whatever it is their doing the future looks bright for the team.
