Than it would take away from the divisional games that matter the most. But it would make for a good idea or even better out with the whole interleague play.

As long as everyone played at least 1 three game series with every AL team, it would be fair. Just switch home field every season. They could still schedule about 15-20 games for each of our division rivals.

Schedule would pan out this way for all NL East teams:
Interleague = 42 Games
Interdivision = 76 Games (19 games per)
Rest of NL = 44 Games
Which really wouldn't work, the way its set now it works but just make sure the entire division play the same teams. For instance NL East vs AL East or AL Central etc...
