Quick Payroll Summary:why the Braves don't have extra money

Here's a quick explanation to where the Braves are salary wise. Unless Liberty decides otherwise, the Braves are looking at a $80 million cap until further notice. To explain some of the strange contracts I'll include my writeups on each. As anyone can see, the Braves are in trouble for 2008. 7 players will cost about $59 million. This means there is NOT room to retain Andruw at even $15 million without creating room through a Renteria trade for example. There also isn't room to bring in a slightly cheaper player at more like the $10 million range since this would leave about more like $10 million to fill a roster with 17 more players. Mike Hampton's injury and insurance situation could change this but for now I'm not counting my chickens before they're hatched.
