14. Atlanta Braves: Jason Heyward, OF, Henry County H.S. (Ga.), 6-2, 200. Has shown tremendous versatility, playing center field and first base and pitching during career, but projects as a right fielder at next level because of strong arm. Extremely patient at plate and rarely gets fooled. Bat speed and left-handed raw power should help him become slugger in pros. Was hitting .520 with eight HRs and 29 RBIs, along with 17 SBs this season.

Local kid with good size and speed.
First round results:
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=A ... &type=lgns"It's a dream come true to be able to have a shot to play in the Major Leagues," Heyward said. "It's a great way to be able to start my professional career with the hometown team, the Atlanta Braves."
http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/news/arti ... p&c_id=atlAs he waked into the dugout to shake hands with Braves manager Bobby Cox, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Heyward could have been mistaken for a power forward that had just been selected by the Atlanta Hawks.

Can't go too wrong with the homegrown talent ie mccann and francoeur, thus that mean that francouer will be in center in the future or lf

Jeff stays at RF, becuase he has a better arm still then Jason Heyward
If Braves can resing andrew for like a 5 year deal, then the future OF of the braves looks promasing in 4 years with Jason Heyward in LF Andrew(aging though) at CF and Jeff(in his prime probably) in RF. Brain Salty Kelly in the infield and maybe Chipper and Edgar. I liked this pick alot!

Yahoo is saying 6'2, 200lbs.
Braves link says 6'5, 230lbs.
Link in my next reply says: 6'4, 200lbs.

Apperently he was a steal. Atlanta knows how to find good talent around the area.

Yeah, I was confused about that. MLB.com has him at 6'4, 220. I'm positive he is bigger than 6'2, 200, though.

Gotta love how the Braves went for Dennis Dixon, the Ducks' QB, in the fifth round.
It's highly likely, however, that he pulls a Samardzija. We don't know if he's really an NFL talent.

I wish we would have drafted a SP who can pitch unlike Cormier.

As always, i trust the braves with whoever they draft. They have done well enough the pass few years with late picks, it will be nice to see what they can do with higher picks
