Teixeira in ATL?...

There has been a lot of talk about where Teixeira might end up if Texas decided to trade him. A lot of media sources are playing up the Yankees and Red Sox as possible options as always but the Red Sox aren't in need of a 1B and if things are done right, the Yankees wouldn't be a good fit for Texas. So with that said, ATL seems to be a good fit because you guys need a 1B and you have several solid young arms and a potential star in Saltalamacchia who is kinda blocked from the majors.

The players that Texas would be interested in would most likely be Chuck James, Kyle Davies, Joey Devine, Matt Harrison, James Parr, maybe even OF Brandon Jones because we need help there too and then Saltalamacchia who could really help us out since I've heard that he is starting to take ground balls at 1B. He would probably be our biggest target.

So, would you guys like to see Teixeira in ATL? And do you think ATL would be willing to part with, most specifically, Saltalamacchia in exchange for Teixeira or any of those other players I mentioned?

yea they say that, but the bottom line is that its going to be really difficult for us to keep him down the road so it would benefit us to trade him...

c.j. has been one of our few bright spots. c.j. for davies is not happenin.

Teixeira makes roughly 9 million, right? While he's a steal, I doubt Atlanta adds him due to his contract.

Also he's going to be due a serious payday in the very near future. He's a free agent after next year. Guess how much money he's going to get in a universe where Barry Zito is given a 7 year 1.2 billion dollar contract? Answer: lots and lots.

I'd rather see Saltalamacchia at first if I were Atlanta. In the end, he might even be just about as good. And he's obviously going to be considerably cheaper for the next 6 years.

If he has a big pay day soon, i say we pass. We usally dont have alot of options with money these days. Tex would be nice, if we could afford him

I've been calling for Tex to ATL all season, and I'd be more than willing to give up Salty and Joey Devine for him.

I say no. Tex will probably leave when we can't pay him the money he wants and we are out two young prospects.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tex in Atl but I doubt it will happen. Adding more money will just limit our chances at resigning AJ.

So you'd rather have Andruw @ 15 mil a year than Tex?

I think thats a pretty tough call.

I value Andruw Jones more but I like how Mark is very consistent with his bat. I must say @ 15 million per/year I would prefer Andruw Jones for not only his bat but also his defense.

2k3 - 103
2k4 - 95
2k5 - 113
2k6 - 107

2k3 - 80
2k4 - 110
2k5 - 137
2k6 - 120

First Set are Andruw's RC per year, second is Mark's.

Also keep in mind these are Mark's first four years in the majors.

Considering Mark also plays a pretty good first base (you know that whole gold glove thing we like to use), I'd say he more than makes up for Andruw's defense.

Runs Created. Invented by Bill James, RC is a very good measure of the number of runs a batter truly contributed to his team

Its a good way to measure numbers in a whole new different way.
