Andruw: Braves need another starting pitcher (Article)

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Jul 9, 2007 7:07 am

"I hope they get something done," center fielder Andruw Jones said Sunday. "It most definitely would help us. To get another starter would give us a better chance to compete against the other top teams in our division."

So would your bat Andruw.

The Braves were among a handful of teams to have fairly serious trade discussions with the Chicago White Sox about left-handed starter Mark Buehrle, but weren't willing to include Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Yunel Escobar in a trade for a pitcher who could have opted for free agency after the season.

Buehrle agreed Sunday to a four-year, $56 million contract to stay in Chicago.

"He's sure swinging the bat better," manager Bobby Cox said. "We're going to have to have a good Andruw Jones in the second half."

Why would he open his mouth batting .200?

Well i think we all knew we werent going to give up both those guys for a rental, but Drew is right. If we want to have a chance at the playoffs, we need another pitcher.

I'm in total agreement with the rest of the posters in the Andruw should just shut his mouth on this one. If he had even hit .250 in the first half, the Braves are in first place.

However, pitching is key come the trading deadline.

he is absolutely right, but:
-everybody already knew and was thinking it
-he's hitting .211
-he probly won't even be here next year

so i agree he shouldn't of said anything....
