"I hope they get something done," center fielder Andruw Jones said Sunday. "It most definitely would help us. To get another starter would give us a better chance to compete against the other top teams in our division."
So would your bat Andruw.
The Braves were among a handful of teams to have fairly serious trade discussions with the Chicago White Sox about left-handed starter Mark Buehrle, but weren't willing to include Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Yunel Escobar in a trade for a pitcher who could have opted for free agency after the season.
Buehrle agreed Sunday to a four-year, $56 million contract to stay in Chicago.
"He's sure swinging the bat better," manager Bobby Cox said. "We're going to have to have a good Andruw Jones in the second half."
