A major league source said the Braves have had an avalanche of calls concerning the availability of 22-year-old catcher/first baseman Jarrod Saltalamacchia. The lack of catching talent is a growing problem around baseball.
That the Braves have asked the Nationals about first baseman Dmitri Young, who could be attractive to several teams over the next few weeks as a switch-hitting power threat at first base or DH. But at this point, the Braves seem more likely to let converted catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia keep playing first.
