Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Jul 23, 2007 3:00 pm

Atlanta appears to have some interest for the services of Matt Morris.

I would really like the acquire Matt Morris. He is a veteran arm who has playoff experience. If the price is right, Morris would be a great add down the stretch.

Why is that?

I would hate to see us continue with this rotation for the rest of the season. I really would like to see us make a couple trades to acquire at least one dependable starter to go with John and Tim.

because if chuck and buddy can pitch anywhere near as good as they have in their last several games then we'll be alright, and i'm confident they can.....and jo jo has ridiculous nasty stuff and he is a really promising pitcher, so i think we should keep him in there and work with him some more....

our focus should be getting c.j. wilson and joaquin benoit from the rangers right now....

Morris has been scouted by Philadelphia, Atlanta and Seattle, among others. Even if he is not dealt by Tuesday's deadline he still could go in an August waiver deal because he, like the other Giants with multiyear contracts, probably would not be claimed.

Morris said Thursday he wants to stay despite the Giants' ills.

Matt makes just over 10 million.

Matt could have the run support that he needs with Atlanta.

What Brave can say they have 3 complete games this year? We need guys that can eat some innings away from our bullpen.

Matt ended up being traded. It's probably a good move that we stayed away from him due to his contract and I prefer Tex over him anyway.
