This solidifies our line up as the best in the NL, but also solidifies Andruw's fate in Atlanta. What a great trade.
There are rumblings we are also looking for some starting pitching. If we could get a quality starter, we would have to be considered favorites in the NL East.

One of the pitching prospects is reported to be Matt Harrison, one of Atlanta's top starting pitching prospects. The other is Nestali Feliz, a 19-year old pitching prospect, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram adds.

Awesome, hope he's in uniform in the next couple days. Maybe his ties to Georgia Tech will keep him here. I think Andruw should be shown the door after this season.

This is a borderline good deal if all the reports are true. Giving up Harrison, Elivs and Salty is a lot and I would have liked Wilson over Mahay, but still, they is no question this moves makes the Braves better in at least 2007 and 2008.
What do you guys think the chances are that Braves can resign Tex? There is a lot of money coming off the books in the next few years.

I like this deal and glad to have Tex as the cleanup hitter now instead of Andruw.

The only thing that will keep Tex in ATL is M-O-N-E-Y - and plenty of it! Remember who his agent is....

Braves will have plenty of money to throw at him. They will be clearing out a lot of money this year and next year. I think JS will get him sign this offseason.

There will be some stiff competition from teams that need a 1B with revenue falling from the sky, i.e., NY Yankees.

hey everyone. havent posted here before just recently joined as you can see. i have been a huge braves fan since i knew what baseball was. im glad the braves are getting Teixeira. giving up Salty is a lot tho that kid is going to be a great ball player. too bad we dont have too much of a need for him with McCan behind the plate. we will have a good first baseman the first really good one we have had in quite sometime. would like to see us get a better closer tho. Wickman just hasnt been doing the job well this year.

So we know have a great lineup, the problem is that unless Huddy is pitching we are gonna have to score a ton of runs since our pitching staff is horrible.
Now I would like for us to either get an extension done with Andruw or ship him off for some good pitchers. We have Harris and Diaz who can play the outfield just fine.

If we sign him longterm, i like it...if not...not so much... i Dont want to give up harrison either

It makes no sense to give up your best pitching prospect, along with two other very good prospects for Teix. We need pitching bad enough, don;t just give away top teir guys like that.

Yeah, I'm kinda torn here. I don't know much about the prospects we gave up, except for what I read today. It seems like we gave up a lot, and outside of smoltz and hudson our staff isn't exactly impressive.

I wouldn't have done this deal till they sent Wilson instead of Mayan. If they didn't want to part with Wilson I'd kept Salty till we find a good SP to trade him for.

andruw is a 10-5 player, there is 0 chance that he goes anywhere this season, and yes i and everybody knows how you feel it really sucks that we can't get an awesome package like the one we're sending to TEX instead of just getting a pick....

they were never going to give up wilson, they wouldnt give him up for anybody, and rightfully so because he's becoming one of the best left handed relievers in the game, if not already the best....
i just rolled my eyes when i saw we got mahay, i wouldve loved to get benoit....i mean he's 36 years old, he'll probly only be around for another year....
