Friday Nights Game: September 7th My Birthday :D

Turner Field | 7:35 PM ET

Joel Hanrahan, RHP (4-2, 5.14)
Nationals (62-77) @

John Smoltz, RHP (12-7, 3.09)
Braves (71-69)

Scouting Report:

Nationals: Hanrahan rebounded from his last outing against the Rockies and gave up one run on one hit against the Giants on Saturday. He walked only one in the game. The one hit came in the fifth inning when Pedro Feliz hit a home run. Hanrahan scored points by showing manager Manny Acta that he can comeback from a rough outing and throw strikes consistently.

Braves: Smoltz lost to former Atlanta teammate Tom Glavine on Sunday, falling to his good friend for the first time in his career. Smoltz's line -- three runs allowed in seven innings -- was one that's usually good enough to win, but Glavine was a hair better. Smoltz lost his first start in August but rebounded to win his final two decisions of the month. He'll be looking for similar results in September, and so will the Braves, who are on the fringe of contention.

The Braves have to take advantage of this next series. They are playing a sub .500 team and needs to make a sweep.

Watch the Braves sweep (actually watch them probably get owned by the Nats) just to give a slight glimmer of hope and then get destroyed by the next team we play.

How come you posted that?

Because he edited the first post to include the Nationals series. I like the way we have it set up where we have individual threads for series instead of one just huge game thread.

I don't know what you mean. Do you mean make a thread for everygame? Or just make a thread that includes all of the series?

^

One thread per/series is the best way to go. (IMO)

If you wish to do it another way, so be it, but I believe the way your doing it DaSportsGuy is perfectly fine.

I didn't realize Cav-Titan-Cub edit the Phillies thread to make it into the Nats game thread. That normally doesn't work well.

New York's taking on Houston

Philly is taking on Florida

San Diego takes on Colorado

Los Angeles takes on San Francisco

As you can see Atlanta not only needs to win, but they need some major luck.

Like I said, 1 thread per series instead of one huge thread where every game we play that season goes.

Like it was previously stated, this is a must sweep. I figure the Braves can lose three more games to have a shot at the playoffs. That would put them at 90-72.

Well the Braves put a whooping on the Nationals last night. Final score was: 7-1. The Braves NEED a sweep this series and hope the Mets lose also.
