Atlanta Braves(Chuck James)
@
Washtington Nationals(Matt Chico)
Scouting Reports:
Braves:
James returned to winning form for the first time since July 31, holding the Nationals to two runs in 6 1/3 innings on Saturday. The outing was his longest since July 20 in a no-decision, and was the first time he pitched at least six innings in a win since June 29 at Florida. James is one win short of matching his career high, which he set last year in his first full Major League season. August was James' first month in which he made at least one start without recording a win. His win over Washington on Saturday brought his career record against the Nationals above .500 at 3-2.
Nationals:
Chico pitched one of his better games against the Braves last Saturday. He lasted five innings and didn't give up an earned run, but the team played shoddy defense behind him. Chico usually doesn't show his emotions, but after the fifth inning ended, the TV cameras panned on Chico, who was sitting next to pal Shawn Hill. It was clear that Chico was upset. He didn't like the fact that he gave up a three-run homer to Jeff Francoeur.

Team W L PCT GB
NY Mets -----------83 62 .572 -
Philadelphia------- 77 69 .527 6.5
Atlanta------------- 74 72 .507 9.5
If the Braves even have a shot at making the postseason they have to almost go undeafeated the rest of their games and hope the Mets and Phillies lose every one of their games.

Joe Simpson feels the same way most Atlanta fans do. Joe even said himself after the last recap that he's expected this team to sweep whatever series it may have been over the past two months.
It's certainly been a disappointing season, but with some luck this team can get back into the race, however, they will need to be the best team for the rest of the season.

We really can't afford to lose anymore games.

Not likely but until you are mathematically eliminated, you can dream...

San Diego most likely gets back on track against San Fran.
I hope the Mets can sweep Philly.

Since we are pretty much done until next season, who would you guys rather see win the NL East? The Mets or Phillies?

Man that was a great game last night. I wasn't expecting them to go into extra innings. That was a great win because the Mets lossed and we gained a game in the N.L East.
