Braves vs. Brewers: 9/20 Game Thread

Post#1 » by DaSportsGuy » Thu Sep 20, 2007 8:03 pm

Tonights Game: September 20th

Turner Field | 7:35 PM ET

Jeff Suppan, RHP (10-11, 4.72)
Brewers (78-73) @

Jeff Bennett, RHP (0-0, -.--)
Braves (79-73)

Scouting Report:

Brewers: Suppan is on a roll, allowing three or fewer earned runs in five straight starts and six of his last seven, a late-season surge just like the one he put together last season for St. Louis. He surrendered three runs in 6 1/3 innings of a must-win game against the Reds on Saturday and drew raves from manager Ned Yost, who believes Suppan struggled at times this season under the weight of his club-record contract. Now, "I think he is relaxed in the fact he understands what he means to us, and he just goes out and pitches," Yost said.

Braves: Having earned two wins while posting 1.04 ERA in three postseason starts for Triple-A Richmond, Bennett is being rewarded with his first career Major League start and first big league appearance since 2004. The 27-year-old right-hander made 36 regular season appearances for Richmond this year and just six of those were starts. In those six starts, he was 2-1 with a 2.15 ERA. His only previous big league experience occurred in 2004, when he posted a 4.79 ERA in 60 appearances with the Brewers.

Jeff Bennett? I have never heard of him before. We might have trouble winning this game with the high powered offense of the Brewers. They lead the league in homeruns, Prince Feilder has 47 and Ryan Braun has 31 which is outstanding for a rookie.

Well, it's not like we don't have an offense to counter with.

I'm concerned about Jeff Bennett and curious to see what he can do tonight.

I'm praying!

Why the hell can't anyone on our roster lay down a proper bunt? You take things like that for granted until you can't execute it anymore.

Scoring Update:

Bottom 3

Atlanta Braves-3

Milwaukee Brewers-1

Jeff Bennett just struck out Ryan Braun for the third out of the inning.

Jeff Bennett is pitching pretty solid tonight, he has given up a homerun to Rickie Weeks but other than that he has impressed me so far.

Too bad we don't get a chance to play spoiler against the Mets. That would be lovely.

God Bennett had some serious movement on his pitches last night.
