Three days after hitting Dan Uggla of the Marlins with a pitch Monday night, Braves closer Rafael Soriano was suspended four games and fined for "intentionally hitting Uggla," according to a release from the commissioner's office.
Soriano contends it was not intentional and appealed the suspension. He can pitch until his appeal is heard, which Braves general manager John Schuerholz said Thursday evening hadn't yet been set.

I disagree with the suspension. I can understand why MLB might think it was intentional (mainly because of the Uggla/Soriano angle - which is a minor angle at best), but the Marlins did hit three Braves batters that night, so a small retaliation seemed fair and allowable.
The bottom line is that both teams were issued a warning after Uggla got hit...Soriano was not ejected from the game. Four games seems awfully steep considering the situation.
Andruw Jones brings up a good point here: "Four games is crazy, it was not the first pitch. Nobody was kicked out of the game. There was no fight. If you get in a fight, it's only three games. It's kind of messed up."
