What do you think Chuck's ceiling is?

I believe he could be a consistent 14 or 15 game winner if we would stop making the little mistakes. While I enjoy watching him on the mound, he's very frustrating to watch at times, and I just feel at some point we will be able to count on him to win.

He has given up more HRs than anyone on our team as hit. He's going to need to learn another pitch or two. Learn how to get out of the 6th.

I like his potential, but he does need to add another pitch. Hitters are just sitting on fastball-change and that is why he can't get out of the sixth most of the time.

Also on the HRs, he just has to get it through his head that with his velocity, he has to live at the knees.

He has got some good stuff. He is a solid pitcher in my mind, I just think his confidence is not as high has it should be. He is 11-10 with an ERA of 4.24 which is pretty solid.

He'll never be anything more than a #3-#4 starter. People overhyped him because of his win loss record, but he gives up way too many HR's and Flyballs and doesn't eat innings.

We really don't need to go into next season with him as our #3.

he doesn't eat up innings cuz he's on a pitch count. Bobby usually pulls him in 75-85 pitch range. Chuck needs to develop a couple more pitches, eventually they'll take him off the pitch count and he'll stay in the game longer.

He's on a pitch count because it's a foregone conclusion that he's going to blow it in the 6th.

Exactly. Like others are saying, right now I see him more as a #3 or #4 pitcher, which is just fine if he can improve his game and use less arm and more leg. Right now, I'm not too high on him because too many times we end up having to bail him out with the bullpen. However, he's a young guy, so this season should serve as a building block for him.

Plus, he finished with double-digit wins (but also double-digit losses) and barely above .500 for a team that too will finish only a few games above .500. He should improve.

right which is why he needs to develop 1 or two more pitches. he'd be able to get out of innings quicker. batters are just sitting and waiting for a fastball or change up. if he develops a curve and slider he has more options to work with.
