2008 already on Cox's mind

Bobby Cox:
"We know we've got him for one year, and we will do everything we can to try to sign him," Cox said of Teixeira, who will be eligible for free agency after the 2008 season and is represented by hard-driving agent Scott Boras.
Pending free agent Andruw Jones is also represented by Boras. Cox would love nothing more than to keep the center fielder in a Braves uniform, but he sounds as if that's probably as unlikely as most observers have opined.
Asked about potential interest in Glavine, Cox said: "Tom has a decision to make with the Mets. He's still got plenty left in that left shoulder. He's like [John] Smoltz

Besides not making the playoffs, this season was quite successful. We improved in the win category, we were in the playoff hunt until the last few games of the season, and many of our young guys improved their offensive stats. Plus, Hudson was a Cy Young candidate until September, Smoltz had another very good year, and Chipper Jones almost won a batting title.
On the other hand, Andruw was obviously a dissapointment, and we've got a lot of questions to answer regarding the 3-5 spots in the rotation, but we are looking good heading into the offseason. Last year, we had one of the worst bullpens in the league; this year, we were more middle of the pack. Last year, our offense was sort of middle of the pack; this year, it was one of the best, statistically. Things are improving. I'm looking forward to next season.

No I don't want to switch, Bobby Cox is one of the best managers in baseball history. He knows how to prepare a team, he knows how to squeeze wins out of a not so good team.
