Braves outfielder Matt Diaz signed a one-year, $1.225 million contract Friday, leaving closer Rafael Soriano as the team's only unsigned arbitration-eligible player. Diaz can earn $12,500 for 450 plate appearances and $12,500 more for 500. He hit .338 with 12 homers and 45 RBIs in 135 games in 2007.

Also Friday, Braves infielder Omar Infante had surgery to repair a broken finger on his left hand after being hit last week by a pitch during a Venezuelan winter-league game. Infante had a pin inserted in the fifth metacarpal and is expected to be in a cast four to six weeks.

He will probably be sidelined until mid-March and could begin the season on the disabled list.
