Left-hander likely to rejoin Braves around the All-Star break

Braves left-hander Mike Hampton allowed four runs, three earned, on eight hits in three innings for Class A Rome on Monday in his third and most extensive Minor League rehab assignment.

Hampton, who has been on the 15-day disabled list since April 3 with a strained left pectoral muscle, struck out five and didn't come out for the fourth inning after reaching his 60-pitch limit. He showed no visible signs of discomfort.

Hampton allowed five singles in the third inning, four of which came on the first pitch. He threw 59 pitches -- 41 for strikes -- and didn't issue a walk.

Hampton allowed four hits in 5 2/3 innings during two rehab starts last week in the rookie Gulf Coast League. He threw 30 and 45 pitches in those starts and reported no discomfort afterward.

The 35-year-old is on pace to rejoin the Braves some time around the All-Star break in mid-July if his progression through the Minor League ranks is without incident.
