3. Would the Sox offer Pedro Martínez an incentive-laden deal to compete for the No. 5 starter's job?

Any interest in our old buddy?
He is by far my favorite player in recent memory, but I'm afraid he's stayed on WAY past his shelf life, whatsayyou?

First, I don’t think he’d want to return back here. Second, it doesn’t make sense for a team like the Red Sox to spend a roster spot on Pedro; they need stability and consistency in the rotation, not hoping for a late-career renaissance from Petey.

I hope Martinez hangs them up, truthfully.

I love the guy, but I just don't see it happening. I'm with BBJ the Sox need a solid number 5, not a what if pitcher. The guy hasn't proved he can stay healthy and last year he just was not a good pitcher.

There is a better chance of Eck coming out of retirement than Pedro coming back here.

No. Go away, Petey. Retire so we can see you in the Hall in five years.

Rotation is fine anyway. Lester-Beckett-Buchholz-Matsuzaka-Wake/Bowden. Sign a couple guys to stash in AAA and you're fine.
