Early AllStar results

Post#1 » by celtsloyalty » Wed May 30, 2007 9:26 pm

Robinson Cano is the early ballot leader at 2nd base. I never really follow the all star game to tell you the truth but are the final results always this bad? Or do they change a lot from the early ballot leaders to the final ones? Cano has 38 strike outs and only 8 walks, in 189 at bats. Batting .249 with a .284 on base percentage. Since he had such a high batting avg last year I didn't realize how bad his on base percentage was. It's funny yankee fans are supporting him this much yet Posada is hitting .360 with a .414 on base percentage and he is 4th on the catchers list. People got Rodriguez leading over Posada lol. Another example of Yankee dominance on this thing is Abreu and Damon beating Ordonez on the outfielder list. Ordonez is arguably the best hitter in the American League right now. They should leave the voting to people who work for the mlb if the results turn out to be this bad.

It's fan loyalty and name recognition. People put down names they recognize, like Rodriguez over Posada. And because the Yankees are the biggest team in baseball, they get a lot of support that way. Same thing with Sox fans. Cano will probably get edged out because he is playing like ass. I was never a huge believer in him. I think he's better than he is playing now but I never bought into the Rod Carew comparison crap. mahalo
