Tavarez has to go

Post#1 » by Markos » Sat Jul 14, 2007 3:14 am

to the bullpen. Lester can do a better job, Buchholz can certainly do a better job. Why waste any more starts, especially with Curt gone, we are down to 3 effective starters (counting wake)

Lester has been pretty mediocre in the minors; I wouldn't count on him for much this year. It appears like those of us (myself included) acting like he'd be of help this year and like the cancer wasn't that big of a deal once he beat it were clearly wrong.

Buchholz is a better pitcher than Tavarez right now, but without any AAA innings under his belt as well as a 10 game lead...he isn't being called up in the near future.

According to Remy, Schill could be back within the next 2 weeks. Gabbard has been good in 3 of his 4 starts.

I'm not sure you can say Buchholz will do a better job.

Homer Bailey ring a bell anyone? That guy came up and got absolutely hammered... and hes supposed to be better than any Lester/Buchholz/Hughes

Homer Bailey has lots of potential, but he really isn't all that polished at all. He is a pretty raw pitcher and it was a surprise to no one who follows the minors that he struggled.

Both Hughes and Buchholz are much more advanced pitchers right now, even if they don't have the velocity he has.

No way Bucholzt comes up, its too early to put him in the majors, he has only made one Triple A start. Lets not rush him up here and ruin him like Craig Hansen. Schill will be back. If Gabbard continues to pitch well for 2 weeks (estimated time when Schill returns) and Tavarez sucks, then put Julian in the pen

I have had enough of Taverez the guy couldnt get my mom out. I am sick of seeing JD Spew ground out weakly to the right side of the infield. What a terrible contract that was

I think Tavarez keeps his spot until Schill comes back. Gabbard looks like he has locked up a spot in the rotation.

Well, Lester is up for at least two starts. Sorry Julian, buts your time to go back to the pen. You had a good stretch, but you aren't that great of a starter. Tavarez will work better out of the pen anyway. The first time through an order he is money. That sinkerball will be good getting out of situations with men on base.
