Rockies interested in Delcarmen?
Surfing around and found this tiny tidbit.
Jul 23 Michael Phillips, of Rockies.MLB.com, reports the Colorado Rockies are interested in acquiring Boston Red Sox P Manny Delcarmen.
Who would we take from Colorado?

No way he gets moved. He and Timlin are starting to settle in very nicely as the 7-8th inning guys with Okajima and Paps at the end of the pen. Plus he's young, cost controlled, from the area, and been in our system so we have tracked his health his entire career. On what planet would the Sox consider trading him unless he was a cog in a larger package. At which point, the question is no longer are the Rox interested in Manny but who are the Sox trying to pry from Colorado in exchange for Manny plus others? mahalo

That deal is terrible for the Red Sox.
i know, but since the topic was brought up I just threw out a random idea. There is really no deal that can help us....but only move us laterally.
Maybe if we can dump Lugo or Drew on them in some manner it might be worth exploring....otherwise its just a waste of time

Hey if they'll take JD Drew, I will personally pick up and deliver MDC to Colorado.
Otherwise I see no point in trading MDC (for what he'd get us in return, I'd bite on Atkins haha)

Atkins isn't that good, so why are we trading for him?

According to the wiretap, we have interest in helton...
What the heck is our hard on for powerfull first basemen? Youk is playing gold glove caliber defense, and lowell is putting up power numbers.
Deal almost went down this offseason, so I am not sure whether this is just something to look over, or not. Then again, helton has said he doesnt want to switch teams in the midddle of the season.

Straight up? I would as well. Too bad you didn't accomplish that, though.Markos wrote:-= original quote snipped =-
well if you can dump a 15 million dollar a year outfielder who is not performing well for a corner infielder who performs equally well/bad and makes 400K, Id do it
Atkins: .260/.326/.434/.761(rounded up)
Ramirez: .298/.399/.494/.891
That isn't even considering the fact that Atkins has been much worse than those numbers suggest and can't hit away from Coors (OPS just above .600), either.

Uhhh...
1. If you trade Drew, who replaces him in the field?
2. Where would you put Lowell and/or Atkins then?
3. What does money have to do with anything?
4. Atkins sucks. A lot.

In my OP I suggested doing the trade in the offseason. Lowell is a FA after the season and unless Arod is available we would have to resign a 33 year old 3B because I dont think we have that many options on the market and noone in the system to replace him. A corner outfielder to replace Drew would not be as difficult to find.
As ar as him sucking away ffrom Coors, it could be just a fluke. Coors is not as hitter friendly as it once was.
