I think a lot of us are shortchanging this guy on his numbers, especially wins. He looks like he's going to go 7-9 innings deep each start which adds up to more decisions than the regular 5-7 inning types. I gave him 7 IP/start over 32 starts and a little under a strikeout per inning. It's realistic to think of this guy as an ace already.
Very few aces have WHIP's of 1.35. It'll be hard for the guy to post a 3.21 ERA in the AL if he is going to put that many runners on base.

What is funny how guys like Glen on WEEI's Big Show were saying "expect a season like Beckett's of 06 and be happy." A ludicrous comment that he was called out on several times, I'm sure he'll back off the statement in like a month.

Ugh, that stuff is just terrible. Be happy with a 5.00 ERA? LOL.

WEEI is always good for a laugh, though.

Guys like Zambrano, Lackey, Bonderman, Lowe, Schmidt, Harang, Kazmir, etc all posted WHIPs in excess of 1.25. Maybe I exaggerated by .05 but you get what I'm trying to say. Minor problems painting the plate, but a knack for getting out of jams, that's what I see at least.
