Tanking for the 2013 draft

Right now the Sox have the 7th worst record in baseball. They have a pretty good chance at finishing with the 4th worst record, if they continue sucking. Considering the new rules regarding draft budgets, it seems like tanking for a higher pick will be more of a factor in baseball than it used to be. Here's hoping the Sox lose every single game the rest of the season. Some say draft sequence doesn't really make a difference in baseball, that it's all about scouting, period. But having the 4th pick instead of, say, the 10th pick could make a huge difference if there's elite talent only available in the top 5. And over the course of dozens of rounds (unlike other sports where there are only a handful of significant rounds) that extra 6 spots in the draft could make a difference in several selections.

I'm with you I'd much rather have 4 than something later in the draft. I feel they do a good job scouting and now getting to pick from elite talent should net the Sox a big time player for the future.

Red Sox have the #7 pick. Excited to see who they select in Juine.

Draft isn't until June. Spring season has yet to play out, a lot of jockeying between then I bet.
