Gil Meche makes more money than Daisuke Matsuzaka.

If, in 2011, Matsuzaka wins the MVP, the Cy Young, the ALCS and WS MVP, a Gold Glove and goes to the All-Star game he will still make less than Meche.

Someone needs to make a thread in the Royals forum entitled "LOLZ @ MECHE"

Meche is the Royals' ace. Not good.

How can you make fun of the Royals just because they vastly overpaid (11 million a year for 5 years) for a middle of the rotation pitcher to be the ACE on the worst team in MLB over the last 5 years.

Last year the Sox wasted a lot of games against so called "smaller" teams like Kansas City. If they want to keep pace with the other AL powers this has to stop...

Man, I hate that we still can't find an everyday job for Wily Mo Pena. Hopefully he will take over for Coco Crisp in CF soon...

Alex Gordon will go 1-4 today with a double and a RBI.

Great start. Ortiz with an RBI double to the opposite field to score Euclis; 1-0 Sox.

That fan has to be a Sox fan. He kept Lowell at plate when he took that ball away from Buck. Too bad he struck out.

Poor start for Schilling. 3 singles and then walked in a run to make it 1-1. His velocity looks pretty good and he did relatively well to get out of the inning with just allowing 1 run. The Royals always seem to do pretty decent vs. Schilling for some reason.

I gotta go out for a bit so posts on anything significant that happens is appreciated.

That was pretty stupid by Pedroia. That was a Manny play; must have been out by 30 feet.

If the Red Sox can't hit Gil Meche, I don't know why they should even play the season...

Awful start for Schilling, two innings and almost 60 pitches!

GO RED SOX!!!!

This is getting beyond pathetic. The Red Sox make Gil freaking Meche look like Cy Young and themselves they are giving up hits all over the place. Lugo was great too at the plate... wow, how bad can you look your first game?!

All we know is that this team has a lot of work to do and it will remain to be seen if we really made a step forward with giving big time money to Drew (who played well), Dice-K and Lugo...

Needless to say, but it's way too early to jump to conclusions about anyone.

Wow, I take it I didn't miss much? Looks like an absolutely awful game. Not a good way to start off the year but I wouldn't read much into it.

Return to Boston Red Sox
