Dustin Pedroia sucks

I think he is by far our most overrated prospect. They have hopes of him being the next David Eckstein... except, he hasn't proven much at all since his September callup from last season. He is a diminutive dude who doesn't seem to possess the necessary drive to want to maximize all his (limited) God given abilities, like a David Eckstein.
I say why not start Cora. He's quite a bit better at this point. He can do it with the glove and with the bat, as he's shown. If you can do even better, then great. If not, get this bum out of there.

I say...why judge a player's whole career by the month of april in his rookie year?

Yeah, let's replace a rookie who's had a month in the majors with a 9 year major leaguer who has an OPS of .658 for his career. Cora has been a back-up his entire career for a reason, because he's not that good. He is great in that utility role, playing great defense when he goes in there and adds some speed on the bases if we need a pinch runner and fill in for injuries but if you make him play everyday, you are not making good use of his talents. Last season he had to play with the injuries to Alex Gonzalez and you know what, he hit under .240 and he slugged under .300. UNDER THREE HUNDRED. Give Pedroia time to get acclaimated to the majors before we throw him under the bus. mahalo

I just don't see it with this kid. I'd rather have a guy who really gives you something consistently than a project whose assets are vague.

He's exactly like David Eckstein: hasn't yet proven he can hit at the major league level. The difference being Pedroia has only 135 big league ABs whereas Eckstein still hasn't learned to hit after six seasons.

What assets are vague? He can hit as evidenced by his thorough hitting of minor league pitchers.
He has 49 atbats. Jesus Christ.
Pinch hitting for him with Cora is (Please Use More Appropriate Word), by the way, Terry. Especially in non-crucial spots. Pedroia is a markedly better hitter whether Cora has a couple nice atbats or not.
I'm going to keep a periodical log of Pedroia's season in this thread just to show how dumb it is to want to dump his ass. Hopefully it will persuade future posters from jumping on a player after about 12 games worth of atbats.
No one has hopes for him to be David Eckstein except morons in the media who can only grasp the qualities of height and skin color. He's going to abuse the Green Monster. Abuse.
And for the record, as of this post his batting line was: .184/.310/.224

We should start a Dustin Pedroia fan club. We can be called "The Pedophiles."

While Cora is playing well right now, everybody knows what he is in this league. He's a reserve and while if he's hot he should pick up a few more at bats, he shouldn't be taking the job from Pedroia.

Yeah, Cora hasn't suddenly reached a new level of performance at age 31. It's just a hot 30 atbat streak that even crappy players have. Do people not remember last year when Cora hit .238 with no power?
I fear that Francona is going to ride Cora too long. He'll wait until he's gone 0-22 to start playing Pedroia everyday. But we'll see.

Yeah, he'll be above .300 in two weeks. Guaranteed. I know I said something like that a week ago around here.

A .354 OBP despite hitting .239. Quality. Just wait until he is at .285+.

I was off on my .300 estimate.
Currently hitting .298/.385/.430
8 strikeouts. 15 walks.
He is for **** real, people.

We now need a Coco Crisp Sucks thread in order to light a fire under his ass.
