Okajima won AL rookie of the month for April. Did anyone else think this guy would excel even more than Dice-K? What a solid arm he has been and I think he's earned permanent set up duties over Timlin or Donnelly.

Oh, I don't think there should be a controversy. I'm just saying hes good enough to take the job. I have no problem with just throwing whoever is rested out there for the 8th. Oddly enough I still have confidence in Timlin, I think he's just been a little unlucky.

I think I'm partial to Donnelly because of the Tom Henke glasses.

If Okajima isn't awesome I don't know who is...

He's not excelling as well as Daisuke, but he has been supremely excellent. Let's just hope they don't turn him into Scott Proctor and put him out there for 100 innings this year.
He typically tossed under 60 IP a year in Japan, so it'll be interesting to see how he holds up under a much larger workload.
Anyone who can keep Mike Timlin out of the game is fine by me.

I'd like to see him pitch a bit more. I also wouldn't mind giving Snyder a chance a bit more too. It is hard however to get guys in when the starters are doing quite well.

The Hero in the Dark comes through again. If he had signed with Atlanta and became their closer when Wickman went down, he'd had a legit chance at the ROY. mahalo

And Matsuzaka, and a few other dozen guys. Relievers who don't rack up saves don't win the ROY award.

^What he said. He can't win ROY as a set-up man. He has probably been the best rookie thus far but that's because Daisuke struggled a few starts and Alex Gordon has really sucked it up thus far. But it's mid May, in another month or two a rookie of importance (not that Okajima isn't important to us) will step up and end up taking the award. mahalo

Okajima has more saves than Rivera, tho!
