Bad first inning for Tavarez! That Burres kid got out of a bases loaded jam but he's already at 33 pitches, great to see the Sox being patient.....

2 innings and 6 LOB

. Buress may not last much longer having thrown 59 pitches but he keeps squeezing out of trouble.

I like my Oreos dipped in milk until they fall apart.
Drown the Orioles.

Nice to see almost everyone contributing, Lugo despite some troubles is really helping out the offense...
Dealing Wily Mo would be a huge mistake in my eyes, Crisp is older and should be head and shoulders ahead of him yet he isn't showing that production (not considering his D though). The Sox have to find ways to give Pena at bats because at 25 it would be a total waste to not have him out there and try to develop his certainly great potential. We will need a replacement for Manny one day and Pena certainly has the potential to give the team 30+/100+. I know it's a stretch right now but with time and at bats he will get better...

The thing about Wily Mo, besides the fact he can't hit a breaking ball, is he's a DH. Anyone who tries to sell him as anything but is blowing smoke up your butt. The comparison to Coco is not fair. That would be like comparing Ortiz to Damon while he was here. They are going to need a Manny replacement someday, but they will have 20 million dollars to find that replacement.

Yankee fan here, but Beckett looks filthy.. I don't know if he'll keep up his mid 2 ERA (I doubt it), but he looks much much better than he did last year. He is spotting his curve and fastball at will, and his fastball is plus plus right now. He's also throwing a very very nice two-seamer..

Amazing catch by Varitek, partly making up for his error in the first...
Beckett already with 6 Ks through three!!! Hopefully the offense will wake up soon...

****. Beckett is probably hurt; Snyder warming while Beckett is dealing and at 60 pitches.

Damn, Beckett leaves the game injured, hopefully it's nothing serious...

We should be glad that Sam Perlozzo is not managing the Red Sox.
