Is there theoretically a point...

...at which you start to feel sorry for the Yankees?

Same answer my brother gave me today.

Yeah, probably. But it won't happen until they shed about 150 million dollars of payroll and/or Phil Hughes breaks his face.

Phil Hughes having a possible career ending injury is about it. Once they get to the sorry state of losing so much that it does become sad they get into the race to draft Pedro Alvarez so my pity turns to rage. mahalo

I'm the opposite...no there is not a point...even if the entire 25 man roster (including Hughes) dies in a plane crash the first thing I'll say was "Why did Steinbrenner and Torre get to live?"

You are a deplorable human being.

Agreed. That's taking it way, way too far. Thurman Munson's death was a loss and a sad day for all of MLB.

jeez, I was just having fun with the topic...why even bring it up...we're at a point in baseball when you can't get into the mindset of feeling bad for a franchise other than your own. I mean 27 or 28 teams cant financially compete with us or the Yankees and arguably the Mets too. If you start thinking about the Royals fans or the A's fans, Orioles fans....and so on it can really start to take away from the enjoyment of the game....but feeling sorry for the Yankees??? I mean commmmme on.......
So yeah I tried to use some dark humor....sorry for upsetting you....waaaaah

No, I get joy from every single Yankees loss.

this is a rhetorical question, right?
The Yankees are now 9 games UNDER .500. I'm not sure I can express how much joy writing that last sentence just gave me.

Is it bad that I get more joy out of an Orioles or Blue Jays loss than a Yankees loss?

yes, the orioles or blue jays deserve to have a chance to fight for the playoffs....its been a decade or more since they've been in the playoffs, it might make for an interesting story

Quiz:
Who has more saves--Hideki Okajima or Mariano Rivera?

The Yankees fans laughed at me for my whole childhood. My son the real red sox fan just laughed at his friends at school because they are Yankees fans. I told him it is very inappropriate. I don't want him to grow up like the Yankees fans. They ended up being the most hated team in baseball.

I only felt sorry for a yankee when Lou Gehrig was dying after his farewell speech.

Neither team "deserves" the chance. If it weren't for the Royals, the Orioles would have been the most poorly-run franchise of the past 50 years. And Toronto's Toronto.

At least the Yankees care about fielding a winner more than lining the pockets of their cheap-ass owner.

Doesn't Oki have 4 and Rivera have 3?

^What he said^
The Blue Jays are as injured as my fantasy teams and the Oreos have no business in a discussion for a division title. If the Sox go .500 the rest of the way, either team would have to play .625 ball to even GET BACK into the race, let alone gain a lead. The only team that stands a chance of POSSIBLY eating into that lead in the Yankees. They have all-stars at every position and some good starters. They are the only team to worry about in the division. mahalo
