Buehrle to Sox: No thanks!
Id have to say no thanks to this one. If they're looking at Bowden, Bucholz or Ellsbury in return for a 28 year old guy with 3 months left on his contract that would be horrifying. We already have a lefty who can do at least 75% as well as Buehrle in Jon Lester and hes much cheaper and locked up for quite a while. If they wanted Lowrie (id be sad to see him go) craig hansen, and Brandon Moss then I'd roll the dice.

Good points, but there's always the "keep him away from the Yankees" argument.

Actually I might be willing to trade Ellsbury for him because I dont think he will be much better than Crisp. (less power but a better leadoff hitter) I might trade him then if we could work out an extension BEFORE the trade. However, from what Ive read Kenny Williams has refused to allow contract extension talks between the suitors and Buehrle. I think Buehrle has said he wont sign an extension and wants to go to St. Louis in the offseason. So Kenny was trying to hoodwink some poor team into a 3 month guaranteed rental

You play to suit your team, not others. Plus they Yankees are 11.5 back and in third place. Not even on my radar atm.

Buehrle is a rather odd pitcher; he generates more ground balls than fly outs yet tends to let up a ton of HRs, mostly because anything hitters loft into the air are pitches that are square over the plate.
