Bat Manny Third?

Post#1 » by Boston's Future » Sun Jul 8, 2007 3:53 am

Ortiz was intentially walked three times in the game tonight and Manny went 0-2 with a walk and 0-5 overall in the game, grounding into two double plays. Since teams now are laughing at Manny, i guess Manny should bat 3rd and Ortiz 4th, b/c Manny can't provide Ortiz any protection

Intentional walks are awesome for the team receiving them. In the long run it's an awful idea to intentionally walk anyone who doesn't bat in front of a pitcher or Julio Lugo.

Stop looking at one-game samples and making decisions on them. Manny has like 8000 plate appearances that you can draw from and say, "Wow, this guy is a good offensive player."

Ortiz shoulder

Post#4 » by 2004RedSox » Sat Jul 21, 2007 11:33 pm

I would have to say either way is going to be fine. I think that Manny would do fine, but seams to be working now.

Ortiz going in for his shoulder to get MRI'd today has to get some worried how the DH will play in the next little while, no matter the lineup. Luckily it was only a sprain and nothing too serious.
