I just heard Fracona say it on the postgame. Also, they said on WEEI this morning that they probably would send Lopez to AAA. Piniero was a total bust, his role basically was the mop up guy, a mop up guy who makes 4 million. :banghead:

Not really a surprise here, to be honest I'm shocked he made it this far into the season with the Red Sox.

How old is Piniero? Did he have any upside?

He is only about 28, and he doesn't really have any upside to him. He used to be a pretty good pitcher during his first 4 years in Seattle, then he fell apart. He sucked out of the pen this year, so i dunno what his career holds after this. Imagine this: he was supposed to be the frontrunner for the closers job in Spring Training. Wow. Where would we be with him closing out games! In trouble!

Piniero accepted an assignment with PAwtucket. He cleared waivers and is starting tonight for the PawSox. Wow! that's kind of rare that something liek that happens.
