Red Sox v. MFY (8/28 - 8/30)

Just sweep these clowns. Payback for last year, I say. Why Boston should sweep:
  • Yankees are coming off a 16-run loss to the Tigers.
  • Red Sox coming off a day of relaxation and rest.
  • Matsuzaka, Beckett, Schilling
  • Pettitte, Clemens, Wang
  • Red Sox bullpen is rested after completely dismantling the White Sox.
  • David Ortiz has found his powerstroke.
  • Johnny Damon is a legitimate DH and leadoff option.
  • Mike Lowell last 18 games: .433/.506/.642
  • Derek Jeter last 17 games: .254/.303/.282
  • Red Sox as a team v. Pettitte: .347/.401/.529 (242 AB)
  • Joba Chamberlain is fat.

While I would love a Red Sox/Yankees ALCS again, I think it would be hilarious if the Red Sox won the division by 15 games just this once.

A sweep would be amazing. 2 out of 3 is fine by me through. Who knows what we'll get out of Schill? Or if the offense will pick Dice up when he throws another gem.

I just hope the boys didnt sample the NY nightlife too hard last night and are prepared and rested for today.

Just don't get swept and the division is pretty much over.

I would love to see Boston do to him what NY did to Craig Hanson last year

I really want the Red Sox to rough up Joba Chamberlain and show him what real hitters are made of.

Also, help the Mariners' secure the WC. :D

Joba's strikeout victims already include Sizemore, Tejada, Pudge, Magglio Ordonez, and Vlad. Those are pretty real hitters. Nobody touched Joba :wavefinger:

Hopefully his appearances are in meaningless situations. Either way, Boston is the only team that has made Mariano look human (quite frequently) so Joba wont be someone they will shake in their boots over....

Someone find the hitter that does not fit in.

Add Carlos Guillen, subtract Pudge. Pudge blows now.

im ready to see some good baseball

nothing like 2 teams wishing the could run up scores 99-3 before the game is over. love the pitching matchups (well.. maybe if we got to see hughes) and we'll see what the yankees are made of. they were HOT after the allstar break, but have recently faltered against much better opponents in big games/spots where they couldve picked up ground (det and laa series) in the WC/ al east.

couldnt ask for more... boston has their big 3 going and so do the yankees. itll be fun.

Well to be fair to Mo, I think that happened over time because of the Sox seeing him so much. Joba isn't going to be affected by the opponent's uniform, he just doesn't have that type of mentality. He just goes out there and throws what he has. Could the Red Sox hit him? Of course, he is human and he is hittable like everybody else. But if they did it him it just wouldn't be due to intimidation, that's all I was saying. I'd love to see a Joba/Ortiz matchup because of the power involved. It was really fun watching him matchup against Sheff and Vlad.

What did I read on another forum after someone said that Joba earned his fist pump for making Drew look as worse as he did...

"It's JD Drew for christ's sake, far less talented players have made him look much worse..."

So funny... yet so sad! And boy, Chamberlain got a break by facing .208 batting Eric "I'm an automatic out" Hinske instead of one of the greatest right handed sluggers of our generation...

Gutless performance.

This is the game that tito should lose all of his confidence in J.D. Drew i mean seriously if you dont swing the bat then you dont get a base hit. It's as simple as that but very complex to our 14 million dollar man.
