J.D. Drew (swing batta batta)

Post#1 » by NH_soxfan14 » Wed Aug 29, 2007 3:25 am

Is it just me or when J.D. Drew gets up to the plate in a clutch situation he just leaves the bat on his shoulder. Against Justin Speier he looked at 6 pitches and eventually struck out looking with a guy at first and second base in the bottom of the 8th inning in a 3-1 game. We ended up losing that game. Tonight against Joba Chamberlain Drew comes up with the tying runs on 1st and 2nd base in the top of the 8th looks at 5 pitches (4 fastballs) and the takes a horrible swing at a slider in the dirt.

I seriously think its time to platoon Drew and Kielty. At least Bobby Kielty has shown some effort with that home run saving catch against the Angels. He has also had some pretty good games at the plate. I know he has a sore back and all but really is it that crazy of an idea to give Kielty more playing time than Drew?

JD is making over 2 million per HR at this point of the season. How fantastic is that? And it's not like he's producing positively in any other fashion. For **** sake Coco and Lugo have more RBIs and Dustin isn't far behind.

I've been wondering, would you Sox fans have rather resigned Damon & not signed Drew?

My vote is for neither of the guys. I'd just like to see Ellsbury or Moss out there to see what they can do.

Brandon Moss probably could be doing about the same as J.D. Drew is doing now except he would be making the league minimum 385,000 instead of Drew making 14 million. J.D. Drew's production right now is about worth the league minimum. He has no heart and never shows anger if he does bad. It just seems like he's not trying out there and doesn't care. I just can't tell you how frustrated i am with Theo by giving him and Lugo max deals.

The Johnny Damon era in New York is almost over. He is starting to get bitter with the organization about his playing time and he's also starting a little bit of a decline IMO.

"It's taken a number of players to replace me," Damon said of the Red Sox. "I'm Johnny [Bleeping] Damon."

If it were only that simple. Who takes on his contract?

He only has one year left on his contract and he's not playing every day. The MFY also have Shelley Duncan. Is Duncan an outfielder?

Damon has 2 years left, he is signed through 2009. He isn't really upset, he made 1 comment before a game he didn't play. Since that he has picked it up and is leading off everyday without question.

Also, Duncan is an OF but more of a 1B/DH. He has a good arm but isn't a good fielder by any means. The Yanks would never let him play out there everyday.

Hes playing mostly everyday in some capacity & he hasn't said anything negative since the trading deadline comment. I think his "blow up" @ the organization was overhyped, much like the "Yankees are 14 out of the division & 10 out of the wild card! Season over!" talk was overhyped early in the season.

Hell that was my hope, just platoon Ellsbury and Kielty for the rest of the season once Manny comes back.

At this point i hope he tears his ACL. We have a guy like Brandon Moss or Jacoby Ellsbury having good years in triple A and we are stuck with a guy that is making 14 million while Jacoby or Moss could be doing the same for about 385,000.
