Dustin Pedroia AL Rookie of the Year

Post#1 » by sunshinekids99 » Mon Nov 12, 2007 7:51 pm

Nice to see Pedroia get the award. He deserved it and was a major player for the Red Sox this season.

24 out of the 28 first place votes.

Link is on the wiretap.

I think you're looking at a player who will be among the 2 or so greatest 2B to ever play for the Red Sox if he plays here his whole career.

That's not really saying much though. There's Doerr and...Doerr. And even Doerr wasn't all that great.

Jeff Frye was ridiculous.

But yeah, I was just looking over the 2Bs from past years and there really hasn't be anyone who has played 2B over even a 3-year stretch and been above average.

Doerr was pretty great--115 OPS+ over 8000+ plate appearances. Robby Alomar finished with a 116 OPS+.

I don't know if Pedroia has 8000 plate appearances in him.

But Doerr only had a career adjusted EqA of .282 to Alomar

would have helped if he was eligible :)
"The guy is an idiot," Pedroia said regarding Cabrera. "I dropped my bat. It kind of freaked me out. I was upset they took him out of the game. He is good to hit. He's 9-15. The guy [stinks]."
