Can't say I'm very excited in this move and I really don't understand it at all. The Sox and Lopez came to a one year deal worth a little over 800,000. Lopez was bad against lefties last year and horrible in the playoffs. I think the team needs to do a lot better than him as the lefty specialist.
Two players remain arbitration eligible, that would be Kevin Youkilis and Kyle Snyder.

There are better options, but for 800K throw something against the wall and maybe it'll stick. He's only throwing 20-40 innings anyway.
He's been good against lefties in the past.
The bullpen is going to be fantastic next year. Few teams have a top-4 of Papelbon, Okajima, Delcarmen, Timlin. Add in Tavarez, one of Wakefield/Lester, Breslow, Corey, Snyder, Hansen, et al and it's pretty stacked. Obviously they all won't be on the team, though I'd like to see Breslow just to see what he has.
Watch out for Lee Gronkiewicz. Seriously. Last year in AAA: 74.2 IP, 83 K, 10 BB. He's pitched for Team USA and I guess he has a really nice cutter. He'll probably start at AAA but I hope they'd call him up if he continues to pitch well and/or someone like Corey or Snyder struggles.
