so instead of makin a thread for every random bit of news why not have an all-in-one place for us to share info. hmmm?
first bit, Mike Lowell to the DL and Pauley recalled:
Red Sox third baseman Mike Lowell has been placed on the 15-day disabled list due to an oblique injury suffered during last night's game.
Righthander pitcher David Pauley has been recalled from Pawtucket to take Lowell's spot on the roster.

Anyone think we will go after sheff?? They could put him at first with casey. He played some time there with the yanks. I don't think we will, but it will be an interesting watch.

I think the Sox are right back to the Manny issues if you bring in Sheff. And quite frankly he's not that good anymore to warrant himself being an ass.

Say no to Gary. He's old and wouldn't be happy with his role on the Sox either.

Yeah I agree to say no, the big show threw that idea out there. I will always remember him as the guy who took a swipe at a fan.
I would like to block him from tampa, sort of like giles.

David Ross signed by the Red Sox. Instantly the best catcher on the team and will almost definitely supplant Cash as the backup. Really nice pickup.
Also has a 2009 option for 3.5 million that could be picked up. I wonder if they'd be willing to keep him as the fulltime catcher next year? Probably not, but he could easily split time with someone like Kottaras or Dusty Brown and I would be happy.

Last night the Red Sox began their final series in an historic soon-to-close New York ballpark. Next spring, they’ll help open a new New York ballpark one borough over.
On the final weekend of exhibition play, the Red Sox will play a two-game series at Citi Field, the new home of the New York Mets.

WEEI.com has learned that the Red Sox will be playing teams from the National League East as their inter-league foes next season and among the teams the Red Sox will host are the Mets and Florida Marlins, while one of the inter-league road destinations for the Sox will be Washington D.C. The Providence Journal-Bulletin reported Wednesday that the Sox will help open the Mets' new stadium, Citi Field, with two exhibition games prior to the regular season. The paper also wrote that the Red Sox will open their season at Fenway Park for just the second time in the last 13 seasons, taking on the Tampa Bay Rays. -- Rob Bradford (Aug. 27, 7:24 p.m.)

Michael Bowden is going to make the start on saturday. David Ross already gets called up. Im stoked for bowdy. I was never able to see him pitch at NH even though they came in like 5 times. He would always pitch the day before he rolls in to NH.
