Peavy anyone?

Post#1 » by Celtics_Champs » Mon Oct 20, 2008 4:02 am

According to the Boston Herald, the Red Sox will make a run at dealing for Jake Peavy this offseason.

The asking price is going to be monstrous, but Boston certainly has enough young arms to swing a deal. Peavy, 27, has said he prefers the National League, though industry sources believe he won't veto a trade to an AL power. The Padres are thought to be asking for two pitchers and a position player, most likely an outfielder.

Our F.O. seems to really like him.

I don't see a need for another starter of peavys caliber but, I expect this name to surface more.

I'll pass, just think the asking price will be too much. I'd rather just sign back DLowe.

I am on that bandwagon! I would love to see lowe back here.

I don't want to go after AJ Burnett, let the Yanks overpay for him.

Word has it that peavy is not high on the idea of coming to the sox.

Anyone hear on the radio this rumor of Coco for Kalil Greene?? I am going back to listen to it again, but I could have sworn pete shepp on the sports flash said we offered up coco for greene. I can't find it on the internet though...

I was laughing when Lou Merloni said the happiest person in this trade would be Ken Rosenthal. Trading coco crisp for a white surfer dude with blue eyes.

I don't think Peavy is the guy. I'm now in bring the fat guy from Milwaukee over in a trade.

Not sure Peavy would be worth the prospects and the contract he has. He plays in a very weak division and a pitcher's park. Boston might as well be on a different planet. I really don't see the Yanks as being that much better. They replaced Mussina (20 wins), Abreu (.296, 20 HR), Giambi (32 HR) and (Pettitte 14 wins) with players that have similar stats, so I say they break about even. The Sox will be fine.
