Try for a deal with the other Sox?

It's been reported that they've placed both Swisher and Vazquez on the block.
http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ba ... 6960.story

Any interest for those guys? I'd jump all over a Swisher deal if you end up moving Crisp or Ellsbury elsewhere. He just seems like a bad fit in Chi with the way they try and play, while imo, he'd slide perfectly into a super-sub type role here.
I'm not as high on Vazquez, but he'd be a suitable end of the rotation guy it seems.
Maybe a deal where we send out Crisp(if they're seriously talking about Wily Tavares they'd be fools not to be intersted) , Lugo(they for some weird reason have shown interest) and prospect x and get back those two?

No thanks on Swisher or Vazquez. I don't think either are an upgrade for this team.

I don't see the need for swisher.

We can get a better FA rather then trade for vazques.

I'd be all over both of them depending on what Chicago wants in return.

Swisher would be absolutely perfect. Capable at all three OF spots (very good in the corners, not ideal in center but probably best option after Ellsbury and Crisp), good 1B defense. He could easily get 500-600 atbats as a backup 1B/roaming backup OF. There are like 2700 plate appearances at 1B/LF/CF/RF. Lowell is just straight going to suck next year or miss serious time and you need a backup 1B when Youkilis goes over to third. Easily 300 plate appearances at first up for grabs. JD Drew only gets 500 plate appearances a year. That's another 200 PA for Swisher. Plus backing up LF and CF? Hell yeah.

Vazquez is great, too. I like pitchers who strikes lots of guys out.

I'm not good at trade hypotheticals, so I don't know what a suitable trade would be for Swisher. Guy hit .219 and was still productive in his worst year. When his average goes back to .265 this year he'll be awesome. Why you wouldn't want a guy like that on your team is beyond me.

Vazquez also has a 61% LD+FB% with a career HR/FB% a bit over 11%. He'd be instant death in Fenway park.

Convert him to relief.

But you're probably right. But he's a righty, too. So that helps.

Swisher would be an awesome buy-low candidate if the White Sox were dumb enough to sell low on him, but Kenny Williams, for all his faults, is a pretty smart GM when it comes to trade value.

Nick Swisher is off the market.

We shall now hate him.

He's a Yankee.
